LEWISTON, N.Y. - Richy Werenski was nearly flawless in winning the 54th annual Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club.
Werenski finished at -17 for a two shot win over Denny McCarthy. Even more impressive, Werenski carded just a single bogey over the course of his four rounds - coming on the 14th hole Saturday.
"It feels really good," said Werenski. "All the hard work I've put in, I've been working on a lot of things. So finally it's starting to pay off, which is really nice."
McCarthy's final round 65 vaulted him into second place. Last year's champ Patrick Rodgers finished four shots behind Werenski in third.
The Porter Cup is an annual tournament featuring some of the top amateur players in the world.
