ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Mario Williams, unwanted after six years with the Texans, is gearing up to face his former team this weekend - bringing plenty of memories to the forefront.
Williams says Houston never made him an offer, before the defensive end signed with the Bills in the offseason.
"There was never an offer made," said Williams. "At the end of the day, it is something people do not realize or understand. They just think ‘Oh well he just up and left and that is the type of guy he is.’ That never happened."
He said he wanted to stay in Houston, but is still excited to be a member of the Bills. Williams also says, he expects to hear boo's this weekend upon his return.
Despite the way his exit from the Texans went down, Williams says he is not holding this game to any different of a standard than he would the other 15 games on the schedule.
"I have something extra to prove in general," said Williams. "Definitely with everything going on, it has not been the way I really wanted it. Going out, making an impact and just being better to help the team win. It is just a coincidence it is this week after the bye week... Just happened to be against this team."
As for his injured wrist, Williams practiced Wednesday for the first time since having surgery eight days ago. He is expected to play this Sunday in Houston.
