Sudden storm sends structures soaring

ALEXANDER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A nasty storm system rolled through Genesee County Thursday afternoon, and it wasn't kind to vendors at the annual Gas and Steam Show in Alexander.

Spectators and steam engine exhibitors held on for dear life as the wind and hail wreaked havoc.

"All of a sudden it started pouring and then the winds started picking up so we're all hanging on to the tents. And then the hail started coming. It was about the size of a dime. And then the winds just got stronger and stronger. Everything was white. And then tents were just flying through the air. It was crazy," recounted Mary Kane.

Luckily, no one was hurt, though the fire company had to be called in to help clean up the mess.
