RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (CNN/WIS) - A thief picked the wrong convenience store worker to mess with in South Carolina. She fought back, and it was caught on camera.

It happened in July but the video was just released.

The suspect was paying for a pack of Oreos when he reached over the counter and tried to grab money from the register.

Chanel Thomas made him pay and even threw the cookies at his head as he ran out.

"As soon as my drawer opened, I seen him lean a little bit. So I kind of prepared myself for it. As soon as his hand reached in I just shut the register on his fingers, he pushed it back open and kind of hit me in the middle of the chest and all I could think about was this man just hit me. So, I just started wailing at the back of his head. And it kind of helped out a lot because he didn't make out with all the money like he intended. He only made out with 30-something dollars and the pack of Oreos hitting his head," said Thomas.

Police are still looking for the crook. They are offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
