(CNN) – It's a sound that's out of this world. NASA records a song emitted by the planet Earth, beamed back by a NASA spacecraft.

The sound is called a chorus.

NASA describes that as an electromagnetic phenomenon caused by plasma waves in Earth's radiation belts.

The space agency sent two probes into space in August to learn more about these emissions.
