INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Thursday marks the 100th day of the NFL lockout. And with the drama of the lockout and potentially no football we are seeing a very different side of Peyton and Eli Manning through a new project called "Football Cops".
It's a goof ad for DirecTV. Two of the best quarterbacks in the world, brothers Peyton and Eli Manning, hunt down gun-toting bad guys armed only with a couple of footballs, mustaches and their laser rocket arms as protection.
There is even a cameo by dad and former NFL quarterback Archie Manning who tells them "You're out of bounds football cops!"
In one scene, Peyton's incredibly accurate throw is needed to save Eli's that just misses but wasn't intercepted. And one of the best lines is Peyton standing firm saying, "I guess nobody told him justice was a team sport." Eli questions, "What does that mean?" Peyton responds, "He knows what it means."
Is it a sign that stations are planning on a football season? No answers from DirecTV. CBS Sports is saying if Peyton and Eli are shooting commercials for the upcoming year it doesn't guarantee football but it certainly seems like a positive step.
