GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — A Southeast Texas man convicted of biting his female roommate as he argued with his girlfriend has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Prosecutors in Galveston County say 32-year-old Jacques Quinn allegedly was intoxicated during the Jan. 18 incident in Hitchcock.
The Galveston County Daily News reports jurors convicted Quinn of felony assault causing bodily injury in the family violence case. Records show Quinn has more than a dozen convictions for assault, theft and drug possession.
Investigators say Quinn and his roommate were living with another woman when the couple got into an argument. The victim was bitten on the arm. Further details on her weren't immediately available.
The defense claimed someone slipped narcotics into Quinn's drink.
Prosecutors announced the sentence Friday.
