BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Victor Oladipo scored the go-ahead basket with 36 seconds left Saturday, and Jordan Hulls scored 17 points to lead No. 13 Indiana past second-ranked Ohio State 74-70 — the school's first-ever sweep of the nation's top two teams.
Indiana (13-1, 1-1 Big Ten) is the ninth team to defeat both a No. 1 ranked team and the No. 2 team in the same season since 1996-97. The Hoosiers are only the third team to beat both teams in the same month. They beat then-No. 1 kentucky three weeks ago.
The Hoosiers needed Oladipo's layup, three free throws from Hulls and Watford, a rebound from Christian Watford and a steal from Oladipo in the final 36 seconds to seal it.
Ohio State (13-2, 1-1) was led by Aaron Craft with 16 points and Jared Sullinger with 15 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to extend their five-game winning streak or the school record six-game winning streak against the Hoosiers.
NO. 3 KENTUCKY 69, NO. 4 LOUISVILLE 62
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Freshman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had season-highs with 24 points and 19 rebounds to lead No. 3 Kentucky to a victory over No. 4 Louisville to extend the nation's longest home winning streak.
Fellow freshman Anthony Davis added 18 points, all in the second half, for the Wildcats (13-1) in their annual in-state rivalry game.
The Cardinals (12-2) only led at 2-0, but gave Kentucky all it could handle after rallying from an early 15-point deficit before tying it in the second half thanks to Russ Smith, who had a career-high 30 points.
Kentucky has won 44 straight at home, including 43 in a row at Rupp Arena, for the nation's longest streak ahead of Duke's 43. This one will be remembered after the teams came in with the highest combined ranking in history.
NO. 9 CONNECTICUT 83, ST. JOHN'S 69
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Shabazz Napier had 17 points and nine assists for Connecticut in a game coached by assistants for both teams.
Andre Drummond had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Jeremy Lamb added 15 points for UConn (12-1, 2-0 Big East), which shot 60 percent from the field to win its seventh straight game.
Freshman D'Angelo Harrison had 17 points, and God'sgift Achiuwa and Moe Harkless each added 16 for St. John's (7-6, 1-1), which lost for the first time in four games.
UConn coach Jim Calhoun was serving the second of a three-game suspension for NCAA violations, while St. John's coach Steve Lavin continues to recover from prostate cancer surgery in October.
NO. 10 FLORIDA 90, YALE 70
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Kenny Boynton's 26 points led Florida less than 40 hours after the Gators were upset at Rutgers.
Patrick Young added 19 points and Erik Murphy had 18 for Florida (11-3), while Bradley Beal had 11.
Greg Mangano led Yale (8-4) with 26 points and Austin Morgan added 10. Mangano's game-high 15 rebounds helped the Bulldogs to a 37-32 rebound advantage.
Boynton, who matched his season-high in scoring, had 18 points by halftime as the Gators took a 46-35 lead. Florida held its biggest lead at 83-57 with 4:04 left.
IOWA 72, No. 11 WISCONSIN 65
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Freshman reserve Aaron White scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and Iowa snapped Wisconsin's six-game winning streak.
White was 6 of 7 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and made all four of his free throws as the Hawkeyes (9-6, 1-1 Big Ten) held on to beat the Badgers for just the third time in the past 15 meetings.
Senior Bryce Cartwright added 17 points and sophomore Melsahn Basabe had 14 for Iowa against Wisconsin, which came in allowing a national-best 44.4 points per game and hadn't given up more than 61 in any game.
Senior Jordan Taylor had 17 points to lead Wisconsin (12-3, 1-1), which shot 3 for 28 from 3-point range. The Badgers had won their previous 12 Big Ten home openers at the Kohl Center.
NO. 12 GEORGETOWN 49, PROVIDENCE 40
WASHINGTON (AP) — Henry Sims scored five of his 11 points in the final 7 minutes for Georgetown, which blew a 14-point lead and shot a season-low 30 percent.
The Hoyas won their 10th straight game despite making only eight field goals in the second half. The score was tied at 35 with 8 minutes to play before Georgetown closed with a 14-5 run.
Jason Clark scored 16 points for the Hoyas (12-1, 2-0 Big East), who had a 15-0 run early in the game and then held on despite offensive inconsistencies. Georgetown shot 3 for 17 from 3-point range.
LaDontae Henton scored 13 points to lead Providence (11-4, 0-2), which shot 26 percent from the field. The Friars have lost 17 straight conference road games and 23 straight road games to ranked teams.
NO. 15 MISSISSIPPI ST. 66, UTAH ST. 64
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Rodney Hood scored 16 points and Arnett Moultrie added 15 for Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs (13-2) needed a defensive stop on its final possession to seal the win. Utah State's Danny Berger missed a 3-pointer as time expired that would have won the game.
Renardo Sidney added 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Moultrie had 10 rebounds for
his eighth double-double of the season. Bulldogs coach Rick Stansbury said both players had a sinus infection but fought through the sickness to post good numbers.
Preston Medlin led the Aggies (8-6) with 15 points.
NO. 16 MICHIGAN ST. 68, NEBRASKA 55
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Draymond Green scored 19 points and Keith Appling had eight of his 14 in the last 7 minutes to lead Michigan State to its 13th straight victory.
The Spartans (13-2, 2-0 Big Ten) are on their longest winning streak since the 1998-99 team won 22 straight. Eleven of the 13 have been by double digits.
Michigan State finished on a 15-5 run after Nebraska (8-5, 0-2) pulled within 53-50. The Cornhuskers made just one field goal over the last 6:48.
Bo Spencer scored 15 points and Toney McCray added 14 for the Huskers, who shot 36 percent from the field and were outrebounded 38-24.
NO. 17 KANSAS 84, NORTH DAKOTA 58
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Thomas Robinson posted career-bests with 30 points and 21 rebounds for Kansas.
North Dakota (5-8) had no answer for the 6-foot-10 Robinson. With 12 points and 10 rebounds, the junior had socked away his Big 12-leading ninth double-double by halftime.
The Jayhawks (10-3) won their 55th straight nonconference home game.
An 11-4 run ending the first half gave the Jayhawks a 37-21 halftime lead.
Troy Huff missed his first four shots but wound up with 16 points for the Fighting Sioux, who fell to 0-7 away from home.
NO. 19 UNLV 74, HAWAII 69
HONOLULU (AP) — Anthony Marshall scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lift No. 19 UNLV over Hawaii.
The Rebels (15-2) overcame a slow start in the first half and held off the pesky Warriors (8-6) to win their sixth straight.
Mike Mosher scored 15 points with 12 rebounds and Chace Stanback added 13 points for UNLV.
NO. 21 CREIGHTON 68, WICHITA STATE 61
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Antoine Young scored 19 points and No. 21 Creighton rallied in the second half to beat Wichita State.
Creighton (11-2, 1-1 Missouri Valley) trailed by 11 points late in the first half and was still down by eight at the break. But the Bluejays held Wichita State (10-3, 1-1) to just 22 points in the second half and pulled away.
Doug McDermott, the nation's second-leading scorer, finished with just 12 points. Grant Gibbs had 11 points, all in the second half, and six assists. Gregory Echenique added 12 for the Bluejays.
Carl Hall led the Shockers with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
NO. 24 HARVARD 74, SAINT JOSEPH'S 69
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Kyle Casey scored 7 of his 26 points in the closing 4:25 as Harvard completed a comeback from a late 11-point deficit.
Keith Wright added 16 points and five rebounds, and Casey had 10 rebounds for the Crimson (12-1), who trailed by 11 with just over 10 minutes to play.
Carl Jones led the Hawks (10-4) with 22 points and Langston Galloway had 15. Saint Joseph's had a five-game winning streak snapped.
It was Harvard's first home game ever as a ranked team.
