HONOLULU (CNN/KHON) - Jerrin Ching was on the H-1 Freeway in Honolulu on his way to pick up a friend on Sunday, when a large red object came flying at his car: a surfboard.
Witnesses say it fell off the Punahou overpass and then bounced off a school bus before crashing through Ching's windshield.
Aside from some scratches on his arms and face, Ching suffered no major injuries -- which is more than he can say for the car.
"This was my girlfriend's car," said Ching. "She was worried more about me than the car, I guess, but her car's going to be fixed. So that's the main thing."
One mystery still remains: who the board belongs to.
"Can you you please claim your board, and, I don't know, pay for the windshield or something because you almost killed me," Ching said.
A Town of Tonawanda restaurant owner has been arrested and charged with strangulation and assault.
