This month's male scholar athlete hails from Cheektowaga Central High School and he gets his kicks from academics as well as soccer.
He's a class act both on the field and in the classroom. Phil Lockhart of Tonawanda High School is always going all-out.
The new school year has begun and so has the News 4 Scholar Athlete program for 2009-10. As you begin your school year, the News 4 Sports department will begin our annual program which recognizes the outstanding efforts of students who excel in academics and sports.
Every month, beginning in October, News 4 Sports will select one male and one female high school senior to honor for excellence in both the classroom and in sports. Monthly winners will be featured at News 4 at 5 the last two Tuesday's of each month through May 2010. In June of 2010, two outstanding scholar athletes will be awarded a $1,500 tuition scholarship.
