BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Organizers of the National Veterans Golden Age Games are looking for your help.
The games need volunteers to prepare for 850 military veterans who will come to Buffalo from across the country at the end of May. Any veteran aged 55 or older who receives medical care from a V.A. facility is eligible for competition. Volunteers will hand out water, food, and help officials conduct the games.
The Golden Age Gameswere almost postponed indefinitely over fears of budget cuts but the event will go on.
Local organizing committee chair Patrick Welch said, "Even some of our state reps sent letters of support and made calls. We greatly appreciate all of their efforts. It does show to the public that you as an individual can make a difference and make Washington change."
