BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo State College has secured a $625,000 grant from the Drug-Free Communities program.
The West Side Youth Development Coalition will use the money in specific ways to steer young people away from the abuse of alcohol and drugs.
William Wieczorek, PhD of Buffalo State said, "[We] work with the schools. And have alternative activities for the kids that are pro-social, as well as share messages about positive parenting such as knowing where your kids are, who they're with, having specific rules against alcohol and drug abuse."
The coalition has a 16-member coordinating council drawing from a dozen different sectors of the community.
