BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Hundreds of families on the west side gathered at the Belle Center of Maryland Street for a free food give-away on Wednesday.
Thanks to strong donations from Tops Friendly Markets, Pepsi, and Frito-Lay, two semi trailers were loaded with food to help local families make it through the week. Several organizations provided the volunteers to help with the hand-outs. Each family received about 60 pounds of products.
Pastor Eric Johns of the Buffalo Dream Center, "There are 800 families here today, They're going to get about 60-70 pounds of product that has been donated to help them during this time. This is the poorest neighborhood in all of Buffalo."
Americans Feeding Americans have helped more than 300,000 families across the country since it began four years ago.
