BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo shorelines underwent major Spring cleaning Saturday by thousands of volunteers.
Over 43 sites throughout the Buffalo Niagara watershed were cleaned up by over 1,700 volunteers all morning.
It was all part of the Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER Spring Shoreline Cleanup. Riverkeeper is a community-based organization that helps protect water quality and quantity. In doing so, they clean up pollution in Buffalo's waterways.
Speakers at the event included Mayor Byron Brown, County Executive Mark Poloncarz, and NYS Senator Mark Grisanti to name a few.
Guests were provided lunch and raffle prize drawings were also available. Live animals were brought to the event from Hawk Creek Wildlife Center.
