BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The parking lot is full at HSBC Square in Depew, Wednesday morning.
Wednesday morning, News 4 spoke with several local financial experts who say two things are worrisome.
One would be if the bank chipped away at the branch network in western New York. However, there are over 70 branches and over 5,000 employees in this eight-county area. Because of that critical mass, the bank may not want to shrink here or in downtown Buffalo where 4,000 people work. Of course, that would be good news.
Also worrisome, is whether the exit other back-office operations. A huge mortgage operation runs in Depew. Hundreds of people employees work in Depew. It remains unclear if the Depew business fits into HSBC's long-term strategy.
