OLEAN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two women have been charged with welfare fraud after deputies say they used Food Stamps belonging to inmates in the Cattaraugus County Jail.
Amber Bartlett, 24, of Salamanca and Heather Ciancio, 26, of Olean were both arrested Thursday and charged with misue of Food Stamps, petit larceny and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office says Bartlett used over $300 in Food Stamps belonging to two inmates incarcerated in the county jail last fall, knowing she did not have the right to do so. Deputies say Ciancio did the same thing last fall, using over $80 in Food Stamps belonging to an inmate.
Both are due in court at a later date.
