GEDDES, NY (WIVB) - State Police arrested 66 year-old James Scherer Jr., of Amherst, at the New York State Fair on Saturday.
A State Police Investigator noticed Scherer selling cigarettes from the trunk of his vehicle near the Infield Restaurant at the Fair.
He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th, a class "D" felony, criminal sale of marijuana 4th degree, a class "A" misdemeanor and possession/transportation of un-stamped Cigarettes in violation of the New York State Tax Law, a felony.
Investigators seized 91 cartons of untaxed cigarettes, 16 grams of Marijuana, .6 grams of Cocaine and over $2000 of US currency.
Scherer was arraigned in the Town of Geddes Court and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $2,500 cash bail/bond.
