AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Amherst Police say someone ripped a cash register off the counter at a convenience store and threw it to the ground, in a burglary on Millersport Highway. Police say they received a complaint about a “smash and grab” burglary at a Sunoco around 5:45 a.m. Sunday.
When police got to the scene, officers found the front glass door had been smashed with a large rock, that was a part of landscaping. Police say in security video, the suspect is seen leaving the scene after several unsuccessful attempts to breach the cash register. Police say the suspect left with an undetermined amount of lottery tickets and cartons of cigarettes.
Police say the suspect was a white male, about 5’10” with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black sneakers. Police ask anyone with information to call 716-689-1311.
Just the day before, there was an armed robbery reported nearby at Kwik Fill, at 645 Millersport Highway.
