LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Lockport woman being processed to enter the Niagara County Jail for DWI is facing more charges after deputies found 59 pills hidden inside her cane.
Jail officers were searching 42-year-old Renee Lynn Harris Thursday evening after her arrival at the facility. An astute deputy took notice of the cane Harris was walking with. After disassembling it, the sheriff's office says they found 59 pills in a plastic baggie tucked inside.
Harris had been in court earlier that day for DWI. Now she's charged with promoting prison contraband. And after the pills are analyzed, she could be facing additional charges.
Sheriff James Voutour commended the diligence of jail personnel.
