BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo man accused of severely beating his girlfriend's young daughter is said to have a violent history.
Ediberto Rodriguez, 25, has been charged with assault after police say he slammed the 4-year-old girl into a wall and pushed her down the stairs. She was knocked unconscious and is recovering from serious injuries.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Dan Derenda says Rodriguez has a history of abusive behavior.
"There was an incident, I believe a year ago, involving I think a 1-year-old, his own, I don't have all the details. There is a history of child abuse," the commissioner said.
The girl's condition is said to be improving. She is currently being treated at Women and Children's Hospital.
