FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies arrested a 24-year-old man after they say he threatened a woman with a collapsible baton and then choked her while she held an infant.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says Ryan Peters got into an argument with the woman inside his home on Bakerink Road in the Town of French Creek around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Peters allegedly threatened the woman with the baton while inside the home, and she fled. Once outside, authorities say Peters choked the woman while she was holding an infant.
Deputies arrested Peters and charged him with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, obstruction of breathing, second degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child. After they found a cane sword in his home, deputies additionally charged Peters with a second count of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.
After being arraigned on the charges, Peters was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail on $5,000 bail.
