COLD SPRING, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies arrested a man who fired off a round from a .30-06 rifle near his neighbor, hitting the man with concrete shrapnel.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office says 36-year-old James Newell was arguing with his neighbor Monday evening in the Town of Cold Spring when he fired the round. The 53-year-old victim was flown to ECMC for treatment of his injuries, and later released.
Newell has a prior felony conviction, and was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon as well as first degree reckless endangerment.
He is due in court at a later date.
