SILVER SPRINGS, N.Y. (WIVB) - A man reportedly told deputies he was attacked by two assailants with a wooden stick, and then they stole his wallet, watch and prescription pills. But authorities have determined the man made the whole thing up.
Jameson Cull of Silver Springs called the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office on September 15, claiming he had been attacked while playing basketball in the Village Silver Springs Park. The 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
Deputies investigated the incident all week, and questioned Cull further, who deputies say admitted making up the story to cover for an injury he received during a fight with a neighbor at his home on Orchard Street earlier that day.
Cull was arrested September 20 and charged with thid degree falsely reporting an incident and third degree offering a false instrument for filing. After being arraigned, he was taken to the Wyoming County Jail on $5,000 bail.
