JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jamestown Police say a man involved in an alleged domestic dispute is facing additional charges after they found drugs and a defaced .40 caliber pistol on him.
Officers were called to East Second Street around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday and detained 35-year-old Zaid Mendoza of Jamestown as they investigated a reported domestic dispute. Authorities say Mendoza took off while being questioned, and officers used a stun gun to prevent him from running further.
After being taken into custody, police say they found a loaded .40 caliber pistol and multiple baggies of crack cocaine and cocaine on Mendoza, as well as a quantity of cash. Authorities say the serial number on the pistol had been defaced and they believe it had been stolen.
Mendoza is charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
Police say more charges are expected as they continue their investigation. Mendoza is currently being held in the city jail as he awaits arraignment.
