BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police arrested three men after a pursuit ended with a crash in Batavia Wednesday night.
A Genesee County Sheriff's deputy followed a truck reported stolen in Orleans County into the City of Batavia. The driver sped away and hit a pole in the parking lot of a gas station, also causing damage to a parked vehicle. Authorities say the driver sped away, reaching speeds of 70 MPH on city streets.
Police say the truck's driver hit a fence and came to a rest in the front yard of a home on Buxton Avenue. Three suspects attempted to flee on foot, but two were caught immediately. The third suspect was captured at Vendetta Stadium a short distance away.
Angel Calderon, 16; Treyvon Johnson, 17; and Syed Baity, 18, all of Medina, are each charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property and second degree obstruction of governmental administration. They are being held without bail.
Calderon was identified as the driver of the vehicle and police have additionally charged him with first degree reckless endangerment, third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, and 33 vehicle- and seven traffic-law violations.
Baity was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
A Batavia Police officer hurt his knee running after the suspects and was taken to UMMC.
