BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County Sheriff's Deputies made three DWI arrests overnight, raising their arrest total to 115 for 2013. The 113th, 114th and 115th arrests each happened in the City of Buffalo between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
The first incident happened on East Amherst Street, when deputies at a roadside check found 52-year-old Artis Washington to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated. They say he refused to take a chemical test and was arrested for felony DWI, because of a prior DWI conviction in 2009. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center.
Just before midnight, deputies stopped 43-year-old Mark Stetter on Delaware Avenue because of a loud exhaust. They say he was not wearing a seatbelt and appeared to be intoxicated. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody. Stetter was charged with DWI and several other vehicle and traffic charges. He was released to a third party and will return to city court at a later date.
Less than an hour later, deputies stopped 40-year-old Lamar Fields was stopped on Genesee Street for failing to properly signal and following another vehicle too closely. Deputies say he was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. He allegedly refused to submit a chemical breath test and was charged with DWI and several other vehicle and traffic charges. He was released and is due in city court at a later date.
Buffalo Police have arrested 26-year-old Nicholas Finnegan of South Buffalo and charged him with pushing Russ Ross to his death.
