BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A security guard opened fire in Buffalo’s Black Rock neighborhood. Police were called to the Tops parking lot at Grant and Amherst Streets around 8 p.m. Sunday.
Police say it appears two apparent shoplifting suspects were fleeing in a vehicle when they nearly hit an armed security guard. The 42-year-old guard shot at the fleeing vehicle, striking the 44-year-old driver. A 23-year-old male passenger was grazed with the fragments.
Police say the two suspects who were hit then drove to Erie County Medical Center. The driver is in stable condition Monday. The passenger has been treated and released.
Police say the security guard was not injured in the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
