BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - An elderly man remains hospitalized after being brutally attacked Saturday night in a home invasion in Buffalo.
A female family member who found the victim after returning from the market Saturday evening identified him as 96-year-old Levi Clayton.
She described, "The whole front room is tore up. Tables flipped all the way through."
The woman called out his name and received no answer. She then found him in the back bedroom of his Longview Avenue home.
"I saw him sitting on the end of the bed...balled up. I didn't know at that point what had happened. He looked like a monster. And what I found out later is he was probably pistol whipped, and his [jaw] broke in four to five places. And we're waiting regarding the surgery that they're going to do," she said.
The relative says at least three suspects are seen on surveillance video attacking the elderly man, who walks with a cane and has a pacemaker.
Surveillance footage shows a parked car, believed to be the getaway video, parked in front of the home. Two suspects wearing hoodies exit and video shows them entering the home by using a knife to cut through a window screen.
As the two men enter the home, the elderly man inside throws a lamp at them to try and fend them off. During the robbery, a third man is let inside through the front door.
The family member tells News 4 that hunting shotguns and rifles are missing along with jewelry and money. But right now, the family's concern is their loved one. Clayton is said to be in fair condition at the Erie County Medical Center.
