BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A postman who befriended an elderly customer, but then secretly stole a fortune from him, will wait longer to learn his punishment. A judge has adjourned Friday’s sentencing hearing for Peter Saraceno until next week.
The judge is considering Saraceno’s claims that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Saraceno admitted to stealing around $400,000 from the 78-year-old military veteran and pastor, who had this to say in court.
“He took me to the cleaners. Took all of my money. I can’t even fend for myself,” said the victim.
Saraceno embezzled the money from the victim over a course of seven years. He could face up to 15 years behind bars.
