CASSADAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Stopping a driver for having unlit license plate lamps ended in his arrest for driving drunk, State Police say.
Troopers pulled 42-year-old Michael Brown of Stockton over on Putnam Road in the Village of Cassadaga around 10 p.m. on Sunday for the minor infraction. Authorities say Brown has a prior DWI conviction, his license had been revoked, and he did not have an ignition interlock device in his vehicle as required.
What's more, troopers say Brown was drunk and had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.
Brown was given a breath test, which authorities say revealed his BAC to be .12 percent. He was arrested and charged with felony DWI, operating out of ignition interlock restriction, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation and inadequate plate lamps.
He's due back in court at a later date.
