THURSTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've charged a 29-year-old man with kidnapping and assaulting a woman as she jogged along a rural road in New York's Southern Tier.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office tells local media that the 34-year-old woman was jogging Friday morning on Route 3 in the town of Thurston when a man in a pickup truck stopped and forced her into the cab of his vehicle.
The woman fought him off, escaped from the truck and run to a nearby home where she called 911. She was treated at a hospital for injuries and released.
Police say they tracked down leads on the truck and later arrested Jason Strauss of the town of Bath. He's being held in the county jail on $100,000 bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
