BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Batavia Police have arrested a 24-year-old man they say abused an 8-month-old child over several weeks, causing the infant to have seizures.
Authorities began investigating after the child was taken to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo. Though the child's injuries are not believed to be permanent, authorities say the child had seizures due to brain injuries.
Police arrested Randy Johnson of Walnut Street in Batavia on Wednesday, charging him with felony reckless assault of a child.
The child was released from the hospital and is currently in the care of Genesee County Child Protective Services.
