JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jamestown Police have arrested 20-year-old Akeem T. Sims following a vicious, alleged assault.
Police were called to Washington St. around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning for a report of a fight. When officers arrived they say they saw Sims yelling obscenities at a woman.
Upon investigation, police learned that Sims had allegedly thrown the woman to the ground, causing her to lose consciousness. Sims then proceeded to punch, kick and spit on the victim before dragging her across the street by her hair. Once the victim regained consciousness it is alleged that Sims restrained her to prevent her from escaping.
Sims has been taken into custody and is now being held pending his arraignment on assault, unlawful imprisonment and disorderly conduct charges.
Police say a Mercedes Benz was making a left turn, when it failed to yield the right of way and struck the police car.
