FALCONER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Jamestown man has been charged with locking four teens inside a vault on North Work Street in Falconer.
First responders were called to the former law office last Friday around 1 a.m. to free four teens stuck inside a walk-in vault that had once been used for record storage. Ellicott Police say Lyle Howard, 19, trapped the teens inside when he shut the vault and spun the locking mechanism.
It took a locksmith around three hours to free the teens from the vault. They were taken to the hospital to be evaluated and were later released. Police say charges of underage drinking and marijuana possession are expected.
Howard has been charged with second degree reckless endangerment. After being arraigned, he was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail on $500 bail.
Police say they had the wrong man, and that Jerome Thagard, who spent four years in prison, didn't murder Steven Northrup in 2009. But the victim's family says otherwise.
