BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A tip from a concerned viewer Friday night that a man may have died after being taken into police custody led News 4 to immediately investigate.
News 4 has confirmed, Richard A. Metcalf, 35, of Lancaster was arrested for an attempted burglary by Depew Police Wednesday night.
The suspect was taken into custody and was transported to the Erie County Holding Center at some point later.
While in custody at the Holding Center, Metcalf began acting irrationally and was taken to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital Friday after suffering from a heart attack.
Depew Police confirm the man was transported and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center. They are not releasing any other details.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office is investigating the matter and are not commenting at this time.
