NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) - A 25-year-old driver is facing charges for a deadly accident that killed a 68-year-old bicyclist.
Deputies say Ashley Westgate was texting behind the wheel on July 16th when she hit and killed Richard Webb on Transit Road in Newfane. Webb died at the scene. Westgate had her 3- and 4-year-old children in the car with her at the time of the crash.
Now, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office has charged Westgate with reckless driving, texting behind the wheel, speeding, and failure to use due care.
She is due in court in August.
