CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A killer is on the loose after a shocking act of violence in broad daylight.
Nineteen-year-old Ira Watkins was murdered inside basketball courts at the Cheektowaga Town Park.
Police are still looking for a gunman, and so far they haven't taken anyone into custody.
This happened around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night. Police say Watkins was shot in the chest, while more than 100 people were inside the park.
Watkins was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital across the street, where he later died from his injuries.
Police have been very busy since the shooting, trying to find the gunman, by talking to witnesses.
Cheektowaga Police Lt. Ken Rusin said, "We do have some witnesses that I understand will be interviewing from last night, we do have a tip line set up. We have been receiving many calls on the tip line so far. Now, it's a matter of the painstaking task of sorting through them as to which are credible, and which are not."
Buffalo Police have arrested 26-year-old Nicholas Finnegan of South Buffalo and charged him with pushing Russ Ross to his death.
