BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Early Thursday evening, Buffalo Police stormed several homes in the city's Riverside district. Police cuffed suspected drug dealers, taking the neighborhood by surprise.
Amy Adorno and her 13-year-old daughter, Teahne Torres, watched the raid taking place on Ross Avenue.
Torres said, "I saw the cops busting out of the truck. I called my mom and then she comes running up the stairs and I saw them bust the door open."
"We just hope that they get rid of the riffraff, clean it up a little bit. You know, make it a little safer," Adorno said.
There was much more to this particular raid than drugs. One woman walked out of the home with a blanket over the head of an infant.
She commented, "Yo, get out of here. Leave me and my baby alone."
The home being raided is right next door to a day care, where dozens of children go in and out all day.
News 4 is told the man who was arrested at the home was packaging and selling large quantities of crack-cocaine and marijuana.
The raid was scary to watch for Torres, but she is glad the police are being proactive in fighting crime.
"Just glad the cops came by to try and stop it and came with the K-9 dogs and everything. I'm just glad that they might leave because this block was perfectly quiet until they came," she said.
In the middle of the raid on Ross Avenue, a Mr. Softee truck came rolling down the street, as if nothing was happening.
Just around the corner from the raid on Ross Avenue, another man was arrested. In all, three suspected drug dealers were taken off the street.
Buffalo Police are not commenting on the raids.
