BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Police have arrested a suspect and recovered a weapon in a Thursday morning armed robbery.
Police were called to West Ferry, near La Nova pizzeria, around 9:15 a.m. because of the the incident. Sources say a LaNova employee was getting ready to drop off money to the bank. When the employee got outside, sources say that's when the employee was held at gunpoint.
Jessica Mecklenburg tells News 4 her daughter-in-law and a male employee were the ones outside. She says her daughter-in-law screamed so loud, employees inside LaNova ran to her rescue.
"He probably sensed the panic in her voice and he came running out with the rest of the LaNova crew. I just saw a lot of LaNova boys running down the street," Mecklenburg said.
Buffalo Police say the suspect, 21-year-old Terrance Price of Buffalo, made off with an undisclosed amount of money, and then fled the scene on foot.
The victim and store employees chased Price, who police say fired shots from a weapon, though no one was struck by gunfire.
Price was picked up near Winter and Hampshire Streets and police recovered the weapon. Sources say the robber must have been watching the West Ferry Street pizzeria for some time to know when they take money to the bank.
Reports say an accomplice made off with the money the suspect stole, but Buffalo Police have not responded to that claim.
Price is facing charges of robbery, criminal possession of a loaded firearm and reckless endangerment.
Officials at LaNova did not want to comment about the robbery.
