MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies arrested a 32-year-old man they say was driving a side by side recreational vehicle while intoxicated. A side by side is a type of off road vehicle, also referred to as a Utility Task Vehicle.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office was on patrol in Mayville on Saturday, shortly before 5 p.m., when deputies spotted a side by side recreational vehicle driving down Rt. 394 and making several lane violations, as well as not signaling a turn.
Deputies say when they tried to stop the driver, Erik Lindquist of Kennedy, he took off through several properties, but eventually pulled over for deputies on Clark Street.
Lindquist was allegedly intoxicated and he was placed under arrest for DWI. He was additionally charged with having an unregistered motor vehicle, failing to use designated lane, failing to signal, as well as failing to comply with a lawful order of a police officer.
He is due back in court at a later date.
