BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police say they have arrested someone in connection to a stabbing on Main and Chippewa Streets Sunday night. Police say 23-year-old Calvin Haskins, of Buffalo, has been arrested.
Police also say that the person who was stabbed is in critical condition Monday morning. The victim is a 30-year-old man from Buffalo.
That stabbing in the heart of the entertainment district was the latest in a series of violent events over the weekend. From a deadly drive by, to four people shot on a porch, to a 17 year old charged with attempted murder. In both shootings, police have not yet made any arrests. It was a very violent weekend here in western New York that stretched from the city to the suburbs.
Saturday afternoon 30-year-old Rashad Patton, of Buffalo, was shot on Cambridge Avenue, the victim of an apparent drive-by shooting. He was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he eventually died.
A shooting early Sunday morning left four people hurt. It happened around midnight near Zelmer and Block Streets on the city's east side. Police say four men standing on a porch when someone started firing a gun. Three of the four men were treated and released, the fourth is said to be in good condition at ECMC.
In North Tonawanda, a 17-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges. Police say Jordan Wankasky stabbed another 17 year old in the head and upper body early Saturday morning. Police say Wankasky lost a fight to the victim before the stabbing. The victim is expected to survive.
