GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - A sea of red, white and blue poured onto Grand Island on Thursday.
Runners laced up for the annual Dick Bessel Independence Day Run. Every year, big crowds show off their patriotic pride. Mr. Bessel says his favorite event is the kids race, and he likes to mingle with crowd.
"Meeting my ex-students, kids I used to teach. We got a lot going here, we got the parade. It's a big day for Grand Island," he said.
Thursday morning marked the 38th annual Independence Day run on the island.
