TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A federal grand jury has indicted Tonawanda Coke and itsEnvironmental Control Manager.
The company and its Environmental Manager are charged withnumerous Clean Air Act violations and other federal crimes. Theindictment charges Tonawanda Coke and Mark Kamholz with 15 separateClean Air Act crimes.
At least five counts involve the illegal release of toxicbenzene into the air in the town of Tonawanda. The company andKamholz are also charged with obstruction of justice for hidingevidence during a 2009 EPA inspection. The indictment also chargesthe company with disposal of hazardous waste without permits.
