KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Ken-Ton School District is trying to ease a tough transition for hundreds of students.
Jefferson Elementary School will close next month, and the students who aren't moving on to middle school will be divided next fall among four other elementary schools. At Hoover Elementary on Thursday, more than 40 students from Jefferson were getting acquainted with their new surroundings.
Hoover Elementary Principal Fran Paskowitz said, "We know that it's hard for a school to close. We have not closed schools in this district in many, many years. And we want children to have a connection with our students, so they're comfortable coming."
The Ken-Ton District is looking into closing more schools in the coming years because of declining enrollment.
