AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two people were hurt in a serious collision involving a motorcycle and car Saturday at Maple and Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst.
Amherst Police say a driver was turning right into the Boulevard Mall when the motorcyclist appears to have tried to turn left, in an attempt to get in front of the vehicle. Witnesses at the scene say the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
The motorcycle was ripped into two, with the front tire left tens of feet away from the rear wheel, and the gas tank burst open.
The motorcyclist is identified as Ryan J. Hudson, 25, of Amherst. The car's driver is identified as Linda Marie Johnson, 48, of Lockport.
Both Hudson and Johnson were both taken away by ambulance. Police report Hudson has serious injuries.
Maple Road was closed from Alberta Drive to Niagara Falls Boulevard in both directions as investigators examined the scene.
