CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's been an emotional week for the troopers who worked with Kevin Dobson, as they cope with the loss of the officer killed in the line of duty.
Thousands of people are at the service, paying homage to Trooper Dobson.
Outside of Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, in Clarence, are officers' cars from all areas of New York State, and Pennsylvania, Vermont and Canada.
Western New Yorkers continued to pay their respects Friday, for Trooper Kevin Dobson.
Friday morning, hundreds of officers from across the state led the casket of Trooper Dobson from the Amigone Funeral Home, in Amherst, to Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church.
Officers from as far as Rochester and Greece, and local officers from Buffalo and Amherst, led the way for state troopers.
Hundreds lined the streets to show their support and give homage to Trooper Dobson.
"I feel very bad. I mean, he's young, he was on the force for 14 years, and it hurts you," said Paul Smaczniak, of Williamsville.
Among those attending Friday's service was Governor Andrew Cuomo, who earlier in the week called Dobson's dead a "great loss."
Those sentiments were shared by Trooper Dobson's commander. Major Christopher Cummings said, "Kevin could always make people smile, laugh, and feel comfortable. And I'll tell ya, the number of people that have approached me these past few days that have said that Kevin never said a bad word about anyone. And I know that's true. And I don't know how many of us can say that about ourselves."
"Trooper Dobson loved his family and he loved being a trooper," said Cummings.
