GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County Sheriff's Deputies made their 124th arrest Friday afternoon in Grand Island. A woman now faces several charges as a result of a reckless driving complaint.
Laurie Lane, 65, was observed driving on Stony Point Rd. failing to use the turn signal and yield the right of way to another vehicle.
The officer had to pull his patrol vehicle in front of the woman's car to get her to stop while he had been trying to for some time.
When the officer approached her vehicle, Lane showed signs of intoxication including a strong odor of alcohol. She failed all of the field sobriety tests given leading to her arrest.
She was taken to the sub-station for processing where she submitted a breath test. Her BAC was .26%which caused her to be charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.
A computer check revealed Lane had two prior convictions for driving while drunk, on two separate dates, in two jurisdictions. Her arrest was elevated to Felony status.
Lane was taken to the Erie County Holding Center to be held pending her arraignment in the Town of Grand Island Court.
