BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A former employee at CCS Oncology and Healthcare is demanding answers after she says her recent paycheck bounced. The company has been facing major money woes in the last few weeks, even filing for bankruptcy this month.
Denise Goff says she no longer works at CCS Oncology. She left the medical practice last month.
But when she deposited her last paycheck March 30th, she wasn't expecting it to bounce.
“We cashed them, deposited them, we thought everything was okay. And then there was no communication that that happened. You just happened to find out when you checked your bank account,” said Denise Goff.
Goff says she's out more than $1,500 and has been charged for insufficient funds in her account.
She says every employee received a paper check on the most recent payday and their checks bounced too.
“More than 100, more than 150 probably,” said Goff.
CCS Oncology is in deep debt. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month. Federal agents raided its offices in late March, just days before pay day.
“Disbelief and you know we all worked hard and did everything we could to work our best every day and it's just sad that that's what it comes down affecting employees this way,” said Goff.
Goff says she understands the company has money woes, but she says it's frustrating that employees are left in the dark. She just wants to know if they'll ever get answers or get paid.
“I don't know and we don't know how to try to get that money because no one will communicate that's all we ask. Phone calls are you know unreturned. It didn't have to come to this and they just need to make it right for the hard employees that have worked there for so long,” said Goff.
CCS Oncology says it is still providing radiation and chemotherapy at all locations.
News 4 reached out to the company's legal team several times Monday and was referred to their bankruptcy attorney. He never returned our calls.
