ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The busiest weekend of the year for shopping continued on Saturday. But unlike people rushing to get to the malls or the big stores on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday tried to get shoppers to go just down the road.
This is the second year for "Small Business Saturday", which encourages shoppers to support their local business like the Made in America store in Elma.
Every single item in the Made in America store is 100% made in America, just like its name promises. In addition, to sell an item in this store, the seller's company's headquartersmust also be in the U.S.

The store opened a little more than a year ago on Maple Road with only about 50 different items. Now it's grown to over 35,000 items supporting over 275 vendors.
Store Manager, Robert Whalen said, "We offer everything pretty much everything that a big box store does offer but it's all 100 percent made in America; keeping the money here, keeping Americans employed."
"We carry stuff like Webber's mustard, Lewiston Jellies, Chef's frozen pizzas. It's all local companies, keeping the money here, it's just a great thing," added Whalen.
The business says despite only being in it's second year, the idea of "Small Business Saturday" is already catching on.
Whalen said, "It's a lot bigger this year than it was last year. Last year was the first year of doing it but it's been advertised so much now on radio and TV. We've noticed it in the phone calls; people calling in asking 'What are your hours, how late are you open, when can I come in?' I think they want to support their local vendors, they want to support their local stores."
"Supporting the local people is key because it's the small guy that's going to keep this country on track, there's no question about it," explained one customer, Dave Slattery.
