Happy Friday from Meteorologist Todd Santos:
A Lake Snow WARNING is in effect until midday today for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua & Cattaraugus Cos.
A Winter Weather ADVISORY will be in effect for All WNY for a widespread moderate snowfall on Saturday into Saturday night.
A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for McKean and Potter Counties from Saturday morning until Sunday at 1am.
The finish of the week will bring continued cold temperatures with some of the better chances for accumulation early in the day, mainly south of the city in the Lake Effect Warning areas. Later today a weak cold front will slide across WNY that could trigger a few more widespread light snow showers. As the front slides through, winds will shift towards the NW, which will help to disrupt the lake effect machine. Winds will settle down by this evening, though temperatures will remain cold overnight with some of the cooler spots getting back to the single digits by early Saturday.
Saturday morning our next system will bring increasing snow coverage with a widespread 3-6" expected to fall during the day on Saturday, 2-4" for the city and points north. Additional snow will fall Saturday night and early Sunday before getting a short break. Temperatures will remain cold through the weekend and we will see additional chances for snow into the bulk of next week.
